AirFest 2007-Part Seven

Here you get to see one of the main functions of Macdill Air Force Base. They run these refueling tankers, the KC-135 Stratotanker. I guess it's not practical to put gas stations on every corner up in the sky, so these guys have to go to where the other planes need fuel. The shot above shows the fuel boom in the active position. The other plane would fly up behind it and get topped off with a few thousand gallons of premium. The shot below is actually a model of the jet above that sits on top of the 'Welcome To Macdill' sign out front of the main hangers.
